Since I’m thinking of it, I would love to post some pictures of various critters, bugs, birds, etc that you see that we share the valley with. I know you can do better than this lazy bug. Send me some photos and an explanation (gt@advancedpublishing.net) and I will post it to our new category.

I just took another look at the Valle Escondido HOA website and found an update with some interesting pictures taken during the recent rains. The pictures can be found from a link in the article about the rain. Rain photos

Hopefully all the homes are OK.

NEW. Valle Escondido Survival Guide

This just in. Mindy, Larry, and Philip have put together a guide for new residents of the valley. Most helpful are the phone numbers and reminders of where to get what. I am sure that they will add to this and hopefully others will share some favorite stores here or in PC that they have discovered. Just click on the pages link in the menu to view the guide.

What’s up with the rooster?

I’m not sure if anybody really cares, but here is an explanation of the banner for this blog site. The background is a photo that I took while on a drive up the road going towards Volcan Baru. The vantage point was near the house perched up there that you can see from the valley. This was taken around April of 2006. The rooster, I captured in mid crow on our recent visit in October. The two images were photoshopped together and some text added and ta’da a banner was born. There’s no denying that the rooster is one of the more vocal communicators in Boquete and so VEPANAMA is striving to be a voice for Valle Escondido residents.

Landslide
Slide behind Vista Golf III

Well, Rose and I experienced a little bit of what the rainy season has to offer while on our visit in mid October. The ongoing construction still means a lot of exposed topsoil, and I was surprised to see how much of it wound up in the large pond by the stables. Any dredging planned? The other somewhat foreseeable consequence is the top of the valley coming to visit the bottom of the valley. Rose and I attempted to get insurance that included “landslide” but have been unable to. If anyone has such coverage, please let the rest of us know.

We’ve got gas!

Rose and I were in Valle Escondido from the 11th through the 18th of October. Our mission; to purchase and install all of the kitchen appliances. One of the things that went pretty smoothly, but took a few days was hooking up our gas for the first time. For those of you about to “get gas”, here is our experience. We contacted Celinda who contacted Tropigas. Best to follow-up as everyone is busy and this is the best way to keep things on a schedule. We were only around for 8 days, so having things completed before our departure was a high priority. (more…)

Mountain, road or spin. If there is anybody that likes to get on a bike for fun, fitness, sightseeing or even suffering, let me know. I have my mountain bike in Panama and am anxious to go exploring.

Welcome to VEPANAMA.

Greetings and thank you for stopping by. I am creating this blog site as a learning experience and primarily as a communication outlet for the residents of Valle Escondido in Boquete, Panama. My name is Greg and my wife Rose and I are owners and part time residents in the community. Not being there all of the time creates a considerable void and we find ourselves starved for information about what’s going on. We’ve already met some interesting and friendly neighbors and found that they are the best source of information about what’s going on, where to get something, who’s who, and what’s what. We hope also that we can provide an informal way to post an activity, search for a golf, hiking, biking (insert activity) partner and generally keep informed. This blog is not the same as a bulletin board, and all comments are monitored. However, be assured, if it has some value to the community I will post it to share with everyone. Please check back as there will be many updates when they become available. Please leave a comment or email me at gt.advancedpublishing.net
