Back in April, Rose and I were determined to drive to the Caribbean/Atlantic (still not sure if Panama’s ocean to the North is the Caribbean or the Atlantic). We wanted to know how long of a drive and how difficult it would be to get there from Boquete. I’m happy to report that the drive is spectacular, the road excellent and the experience an A+. You’ll see from the pictures that we had great weather and that the road is wide enough to allow for room for a cyclist. Terry from VG III tells me that the local bicycle club does a “Touch Wheels” ride where they start at the Pacific, ride this road across the “continental divide”, touch wheels in the Atlantic and ride back to finish with a wheel touch in the Pacific. Sign me up!

For the record it took just over 2 hours to get to Chiriqui Grande. Almirante and the ferry is another 1-1/2 hour drive I am told.

Yea, the road is very good, only one or two potholes as far as I could tell.

There is a shortcut from Boquete to the Carribean that Sam showed me on day while we were out for a ride. We rode two wheels but ours had a motor!

Saturday was an absolutly perfect day here. It seems like the rian for the most part is gone and summer will soon be here.

My container hits port on Wed. the 15th and my wife arrives on the 20th! She is absolutly certain that I planned for the container to arrive about the same time she did so that I don’t have to unpack. Well, I didn’t plan it that way but the timing is certainly good!

Got to go, sun is up, and I’m going for a ride today, motorcycle ride that is.

Take care,
David

Yes, we took the road that goes to the dam and Caldera. Much better than going to David first. We can’t really complain about the weather in So Cal, it’s been great since our return. Just sharing it with toom many others is the only complaint. I’ll have to look into one on those new-fangled motorized bikes… sound like fun.
