Slip Slidin’

Well, Rose and I experienced a little bit of what the rainy season has to offer while on our visit in mid October. The ongoing construction still means a lot of exposed topsoil, and I was surprised to see how much of it wound up in the large pond by the stables. Any dredging planned? The other somewhat foreseeable consequence is the top of the valley coming to visit the bottom of the valley. Rose and I attempted to get insurance that included “landslide” but have been unable to. If anyone has such coverage, please let the rest of us know.
Greg

The week after you left, the rain stopped and the sun came out. It’s been
beautiful here. Last night I went down to the residents weekly Friday night
“social” (drinks and more drinks). We left about 9:00 and 15 or so of us
ended up at the Zansibar club in Boquete (next door to Delicious del Peru)
and drank and chated and then went to La Haucia (in the Rino Realty
building) and drank some more.
It was one of the best nights I’ve had since arriving just six weeks ago. I
didn’t drink much since I was on the motorcycle. It was a great night.
The sun is just coming up and the horses are out playing. I assume it’s
about 65 degrees now and might hit 75. Like I said, it’s been almost no rain
since you left. I think you took it back to CA.
Take care,

I haven’t heard of landslide insurance, but I would think that the developer at this stage of the game would be responsible for the slides behind your property..Since it was the developer’s construction on the site that seems to have compromised the integrity of the hill, building of rock walls in that area would help to hold the land up…Have you talked to the other homeowners on your side of the valley to see about approaching the developer on this matter?
Comment by Dinah Sutton November 8, 2006 @ 12:39 pmThank you for your comments Dinah. The slides were cleaned up quickly and of course there is ongoing concern as to the stability of the slope. There is some conversation going on about retaining walls and responsibility and hopefully we can minimize the slides.
